Coin Collage

This week for my digital art class we were required to make a Bechar-style grid of objects which are similar. I chose to use my coin collection as my subject. I have had this collection for many, many years. When I was younger I was a little bit of a pack rat, and I always thought it would be so neat to have a collection of some sort. I tried collecting stamps, photographs, post cards, candy wrappers... but the only collection I ever successfully curated was my coin collection.

Some of these coins have stories behind them. There is a French coin in there which was given to us by a French exchange student who lived with us for a month this past summer. There is a $0.50 coin which was given to me when I was 8 or 9 years old by the barber who cut my dad's hair in the tiny Illinois town we lived in at that time. There is a canadian coin which used to be my mom's. I don't know where she got it, but it's been in our house forever. I think it must be from her grandfather because he was canadian.

All of these pictures were taken with my ipad, which is brand new and has pretty good quality photography capabilities. I like how it turned out!
